"Y'all kids eat your snack and then go outside and play." This is what my grandmother told us every day when we were at her house in summer. Her idea of a snack was fresh apples, oranges and pears that her neighbor would give to her from his pear tree. My cousin's and I thought fruit was the sweetest thing on earth until we started buying candy. Once we where done eating we would run outside to our bikes, jump ropes and hula hoops. We had a ball playing with such simple toys. Ahhh the good old days.

Little did we know that grandma was teaching us how to stay healthy and active by eating right and getting a little exercise. What happened to that basic concept of eat and play? Well, as I grew up I would still eat and go outside, but I moved away jumping rope to break dancing. I had some pretty good moves too, but the basic concept of eating and being active was still a part of my daily routine. School made it a little easier to stick to this routine because I had gym class after lunch. We played basketball, volleyball, softball and any other game you can think of that has the word ball in it. Now I didn't do too good with these games because I didn't want to sweat, but I did real well when our gym teacher decided to teach us the dance routine from Michael Jackson's Thriller video. That was so much fun I didn't even think I was working out.

I think what changed for me was when I went off to college and became responsible for feeding myself. I began to eat junk food and hang out with my friends. The next thing I know I had packed on the freshman 15. Well, I think mine was more like the freshman 20. This is that extra 15 to 20 pounds you gain in your first year of college. If you didn't go to college it could be those extra pounds you put on after you moved out on your own and had to start cooking for yourself. I also feel that the whole concept gets watered down over the years with people telling us to grow up or we just don't make time to eat right.

So how can we get back to the basic healthy principles that grandma taught us? That's easy; we just make up our minds to prioritize our health and fitness. With childhood obesity on the rise and school physical education programs being dropped due to budget cuts, we have to be an example to our youth when it comes to eating right and getting plenty of exercise. My plan is to continue hitting the gym for my basic strength training and cardio workouts, but I'm also going to try to find more fun things to do so I don't get bored with the gym.

I used to love roller skating as a kid, so I think I'll try that again soon. I still love to dance, but I don't hit the night clubs like I used to, so I just stay at home and dance in front of the mirror for about 20 minutes a day. What fun physical activities did you do as a kid? Did you play tennis or badminton? Maybe flag football was your game. No matter what it was, find something physical that you used to do as a kid that made you feel good and just start doing it. Remember, you're never too old to go outside and play.

College Football - Alabama & Florida Barely Win, 12 Others Put on Muscle Shirts & Strut Their Stuff

There was only one real upset in college football's 8th week of play as 12 of the 20 top-ranked teams put on their muscle shirts and showed what they have, a sure sign that teams have begun to stabilize for their last 4 games.

Only 21st-ranked Texas Tech was caught flat-footed at home by unranked Texas A&M, 52-30. The Red Raiders (now 5-3) were favored by 22 and lost by 22, a 44-point negative swing that sent Texas Tech reeling. The Texas A&M Aggies meant business, piling up a 38-22 lead after 3 quarters, and then outscoring the Red Raiders 14-8 in the 4th quarter.

Texas A&M was trounced 62-14 last week by Kansas State and decided to take it out on Texas Tech. The high score was no real surprise; both teams came in as scoring machines-Tech was ranked 2nd nationally at 41 ppg, and A&M was 19th at 33 ppg. A&M piled up 559 yards of offense and Tech 520; the contest was strictly offensive with a combined 1,079 yards of offense. Exciting, but not good football.

One other upset occurred when unranked Clemson hung in and hung on for a 40-37 overtime upset of 8th-ranked Miami (FL) on the Hurricanes' home field. Miami (now 5-2) was favored 5. Kyle Parker threw a 26-yard scoring strike to Jacoby Ford to win the game. It was big deal for Clemson because the Tigers have been toothless for some time. The win was Clemson's first in 9 tries over ranked teams, and its first win over a Top 10 foe in more than 8 years.

Last year Iowa lost 4 games by a combined total of 12 points. The Hawkeye defense has 15 interceptions this year and 9 fumble recoveries.

No. 14-ranked Oregon (6-1) got a lot of help from Washington in its 43-19 victory, which might have appeared more dominate than it actually was. The Huskies managed to let a rusher go untouched on a punt attempt that was blocked and resulted in a loose ball in the end zone that Oregon recovered for a TD. While Washington was rushing to get into position for the extra point, the holder ran it in for a 2-point conversion.

Another Husky drive that should have been a touchdown became a field goal, and another Husky drive ended at 2nd-and-goal and Washington could not get it in as Jake Locker threw an interception on 4th down and the Huskies came away with nothing. Oregon would rush for 259 yards and Washington could not stop them.

Here are the 5 of 12 teams that put on their muscle shirts looking for more BCS poll support by dominating their opponents in home games:

No. 5-ranked Cincinnati (7-0) over Louisville 41-10, 9th-ranked Louisiana State (6-1) over Auburn 31-10, 17th-ranked Houston (6-1) over Southern Methodist 38-15 (Houston led 31-3 after 3 quarters), 18th-ranked Ohio State (6-2) over Minnesota 38-7, and 20th-ranked Pittsburgh (7-1) over South Florida 41-14.

Five other home game victories by ranked teams were less dominating.

Least impressive was 1st-ranked Alabama's block of a 44-yard field goal on the last play of the game by the Tide's 350-pound nose guard Terrence Cody to preserve a 12-10 lead and victory over the unranked 3-4 Tennessee Volunteers. The blocked field goal by Cody, now dubbed "Mount Cody", was his second of the game. The Crimson Tide (now 8-0) came into the game ranked No. 1 in total defense; Alabama's offense, which averaged 34 points a game coming in, got all of its points on 4 field goals by Leigh Tiffin, including a 49-yarder and a 50-yarder.

No. 4-ranked Southern California was lucky to get by the unranked 4-3 Oregon State Beavers. A 63-yard punt return by Damian Williams in the 4th quarter and a late drive that bailed out the USC defense saved the day as the Trojans outlasted the Beavers, 42-36. Southern Cal was ranked 9th in the nation in total defense, but its scoring defense was ranked 41st (the Trojans were giving up 30 points a game). Now you know why USC is beyond lucky to be ranked No. 4 in the country. Think about it, the Trojans gave up 36 points to a 4-3 Oregon State team. The Beavers were the only team to beat USC last year, and they did it at home 27-21.

No. 19-ranked Utah (6-1) went lame in a 23-16 victory over a 4-4 Air Force team. This is not the same Utah team that went 13-0 last year as the only undefeated team in the nation, and then took down Alabama 31-17 in the BCS Sugar Bowl. Utah still must face major opponents in Texas Christian (7-0) and Brigham Young (6-2).

No. 22-ranked West Virginia (6-1) needed a 56-yard touchdown run by Noel Devine in the closing minutes to get by Connecticut, 28-24, and 23rd-ranked South Carolina (6-2) keep a weak 2-6 Vanderbilt team at bay long enough to win 14-10. The 15th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies were idle this week.

Here are two unranked teams still on the move and hoping to get ranked. Central Michigan (now 7-1 and getting more impressive every week) beat Bowling Green 24-10, and Navy (6-2) beat Wake Forest 13-10.

Nebraska, which I publicly identified as a fraud in last week's wrap-up, lost again, this time to Iowa State 9-7 in what sounded like a scrum match. The Idaho Vandals, who had been flying high at 6-1, got crushed by a 4-3 Nevada team, 70-45. Ouch, that was some crash landing; nonetheless, the Vandals are still 6-2 and bowl eligible.

Bible Colleges Online - How to Find Your Place in the Ministry

There are many different reasons why a student may pick one school over another to further their education. Although academia is an integral part of the process of choosing a college there are many other factors to consider. Social opportunities, dress codes, athletic opportunities, personal and spiritual preferences all have a role to play when considering a college for further education.

Bible Colleges

Among these are a large number of Bible Colleges that offer a great education along with a much more spiritually oriented college lifestyle. Bible colleges focus very much upon the role of the student within his relationship with God or worship.

Many Bible colleges have an enforced spiritual or religious code that is reflected in all the facets of college life. They seek to impress upon the student the importance of welcoming God or spirituality into all the aspects of their college lifestyle. Co-educational dorms are unlikely to exist in a Bible college setting and some may even enforce a dress code.

Degree Concentrations

Many Bible colleges will offer several degrees within a seminary program or a theological department, including Christian ministry, Christian counseling, religious and theological studies, youth ministry, Bible studies and lots of others. Even classes that might be considered secular, such as the liberal arts or science programs incorporate some form of religious affiliation or focus. Students are generally expected to set an example as moral leaders and to spread the word of God as part of their responsibility as a student. Jesus Exposes the Lack of Integrity of the Pharisees

We often say we don't appreciate preachers who tell us that we are going to Hell if we don't stop our sinning. Yet, even Jesus took an occasion to condemn those who were guilty of sin. His messages weren't always positive and uplifting. There are occasions where it is necessary to tell sinners that they are doing wrong in order to lead them to repent.

In Matthew 23:15-39, Jesus continues confronting the Lawyers and Pharisees with their hypocrisy and lack of integrity before He is to be crucified for our sins. He gives a seven (eight, depending on how it is broken up) part warning against the practices of the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees. They don't do what they teach. He us attacking their lack of integrity!

Integrity in Truthfulness - Matthew 23:15

Jesus accuses the Lawyers and Pharisees of working hard at evangelizing, but making their more perverted than they were before their conversion. They will win someone to their interpretation of the Jewish Law without regard that it is what the Mosaical Law actually teaches or whether what they are teaching is true. Protecting their way of doing things is more important to them than telling the truth and maintaining their integrity. Such an attitude is living a lie and a compromise of their integrity.

As Christians, we are witness for Jesus Christ. When we are more concerned about trying to make someone a believer in our denomination instead of simply believing in Jesus as their Lord, we are just as guilty as the Pharisees. Each denomination is man's attempt to be right with God. These are well intended, but they are man-made, not God-made. Salvation is not found in one Christian denomination and not another. Salvation is found only in the truth of what Jesus did on the cross! Our integrity demands that we seek to discover the truth, not insist that our way is the truth. It is far better to change your beliefs to the truth than to defend a lie.

Integrity in Promises - Matthew 23:16-22

Next, Jesus upbraids the Pharisees because they think they can swear (make a promise) by the Temple without consequence, but if they swear by the gold in it, they are bound by their oath. Therefore, they have easy excuses to pretend to keep their word and then get out of doing it via this technicality. There are times when it is appropriate for us to promise to do something. Our integrity demands that we keep our word. It does not matter whether we swear by anyone or anything. If you say you are going to do it, do it! Your integrity depends on it.

Integrity in Caring for Others - Matthew 23:23-24

The Pharisees are careful to give God 10% of everything, yet they have neglected the law and compromised their integrity in not showing justice, mercy and faithfulness in their dealings with others. God would rather that they care more about helping other people and than they do about the legalistic tithing.

People and worshipping God in their heart is more important than how much money they give. When we start to think we are more important than others and they don't matter, we don't reflect the life or love of Christ. We are here to love God and serve others. Our integrity and witness is exemplified in how we care for other people. Giving is an expression of worship, but if it isn't done with love for God and your fellow man, the giver is a hypocrite. People will not remember you for the money you gave if they don't see how much you really cared about people.

Integrity in their Hearts - Matthew 23:25-26

Woe to the Pharisees and Lawyers because they think that being clean in their outward behavior makes them clean on the inside also. Jesus tells them that it is what is inside us that matters. It is their hearets and attitudes that exemplify or disparage their integrity. Their greed and selfishness does not reflect positively on their relationship with God. To them, money matters more than integrity.

Our outward appearance may be what people see first, but it is our inward character, our integrity, that they are going to really remember us by. Does your life reflect Jesus' presence or are you just putting on an outward behavior and hiding the sinful person that you are when you think no one is looking? If you more concerned about how you look to others than you are about their needs, then your integrity needs some serious overhauling. If you genuinely love God and care about others, they will not care about what you look like.

Integrity in Personal Behavior - Matthew 23:27-28

Jesus accuses the Pharisees and Lawyers as presenting themselves to be pure and holy on the outside when they are unclean sinners inside. A hypocrite is one who pretends to be something in hopes of impressing the people around him. They define themselves of integrity, but their character doesn't reflect that standard. They are being two faced - hypocrites.

If people could see inside your soul, would they see someone who truly loves God and cares about others or would they see a cheap façade on an inwardly empty shell? Does your daily life and integrity reflect Jesus inside you?

Integrity in Religious Convictions - Matthew 23:29-35

The Pharisees and Lawyers build graves to the prophets that were killed by their forefathers. This is a testimony against them because they are also guilty in the deaths of those sent by God to warn them. They will continue to do the same in killing Jesus and those who come after Him. Their integrity is seriously flawed.

How can we continue doing things against God when we claim to be followers of Jesus Christ? What are we when we go to church every SONday, but sin like the devil Monday through Friday? Does your integrity during the week reflect in your worship on SONdays?

God Longs for Our Integrity - Matthew 23:36-39

Jesus concludes this diatribe with a lament over the city of Jerusalem. For hundreds, even thousands of years, God has sought a relationship with His people only to be rejected time and again. When I look at the state of some of our churches, I can only imagine how God must hurt because of the lack of respect for God and others in their integrity. God wants to have a relationship with you. Do you love Him?

With so many different versions of the Bible, and so many scammers looking to capitalize on your misfortune, it can be easy to take the wrong path. How do you know who to turn to to manage your finances in a way that God desires? Keeping your Christian finances, managed in a Biblically based way, will bring you more abundance in every area of your life than you can imagine.

There are many Christian finance advisors who are doing God's work, and equipping the nations to know and put into practice the financial principles that God requires for true abundance. Just as a professional athlete, dancer or educator would seek guidance and counsel, we as Christians, must align ourselves with like-minded individuals who have a heart for God and desire his abundance to flow freely. You are the master of your own destiny, and with God on your side, you simply cannot fail.

How Do Our Past Beliefs in Religion Affect Our Future?

Any intelligent person can look at a young child, someone between the ages of five and 15 and clearly see the effects of their parent's religious beliefs. I have a nephew that is seven years old and his mother is a strong believer in Christianity.

This young man is also a strong believer and has mentioned to me more than once, that there is someone looking out for all of us and he sincerely believes that his name is Jesus. Do you think that his mother's past beliefs affect her current religious views?

This woman was obviously raised a Christian and I believe that she even went to a Christian college. She stands firm in her Faith and isn't easily unshaken. Her mother and father don't seem to be strong believers in Christianity, but after going through a tough divorce, she has became an even stronger believer and is supported strongly by her church community.

Her thoughts, emotions and beliefs are now transferred onto her child and those around her. Whether she is right or wrong, doesn't really seem to matter anymore. I've asked her question after question and she can't seem to provide me with logical answers. The facts don't seem to be as important as her beliefs.

Whatever this woman has learned in the past, will slowly be imposed on to this young man. The only concern that this woman has, is that her son becomes a strong Christian and walks faithfully with the lord.

Obviously this woman's past and her present are going to affect her future. The problem now becomes, she has transferred her beliefs to her son without ever gathering the important facts about her religion.

How many people do you know, that do this and have been doing it for centuries? Their current religious beliefs seem to affect the future as they continue to teach their children and grandchildren to believe in something, that might not make a lot of sense.

I strongly suggest that those of you who are planning on imposing your beliefs onto your children, to at least take the time to answer their questions or search for the truth. You could be saving the future of the entire world, simply by educating yourself about your religion or spiritual practices.

How does a college degree online compare to a traditional or off line university degree? Many people will tell you that it's just about the same. A big problem however,is that there are lots of scams going out there, companies where you basically buy a degree from. Many employers are hip to this, and they won't accept a hokey diploma. So, if you are looking for a good program, you have to take into account the reputation of the school. You have to make sure this is the real deal for you.

But still, tuition, academics, faculty as well as student services are important things to check out. Look for a good school online in the same way as you would look for any.

Just like looking at a regular off line university, you should look at whether or not the school is accredited. Accredited means that its program is recognized by one of the six official organizations that evaluate schools in accordance with national standards of education. If the college you are looking at is not accredited, you should find out why. This might raise a red flag that will tell you right then if a particular company is really just a scam. The recent years more and more people are choosing to do their schooling this way, and that has increased competition among online companies. One of the most important steps is to make sure that the schools you want to approach have a good reputation. Don't go by just what they say on their website, do some investigation.

Some schools are in the process and just waiting for their accreditation. Actually, there are major, recognized schools that are still not accredited for certain programs. But that doesn't automatically mean that it's a scam. So you should check out and see if they have applied for accreditation. You can do that by going the to US Department of Education's website. There you can find all kinds of information for checking to see who's accredited, who's not, and who's trying to get accredited. Some of the courses they are offering may be worth taking, and by the time you graduate, they may have received their accreditation, so don't rule anybody out based on that.

If you find a school or college that has applied for accreditation and been turned down, this may be a warning sign that it's not legit. This is especially the case if they tell you right there on the website that it doesn't really matter. Lots of traditional university programs are not accredited, but a diploma from an online school is going to really be scrutinized by your prospective employer. This is why accreditation is such an important factor to consider. Make sure that you are choosing a school where your diploma will mean something of future value so the money and work you have invested will pay off.
