This is a debate in the Royal Institution in London among the philosopher Daniel C Dennett and Alister McGrath, professor of theology. The debate on the ideas of the book by Dennett, Breaking the Spell, as the concept of memes and the evolution of religion represented. The debate will be chaired by Madeleine Bunting. Daniel Clement Dennett (born March 28, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts) is a prominent American philosopher whose research centers on philosophy of mind, philosophy of science andThe philosophy of biology, in particular as regards the fields of evolutionary biology and cognitive science. He is currently co-director of the Center for Cognitive Studies, Austin B. Fletcher Professor of Philosophy and professor at Tufts University. Dennett is also a noted atheist and advocate of the Brights movement. en.wikipedia.org Edgar Alister McGrath (born January 23, 1953) is a Christian theologian who has both a DPhil (in molecular biophysics) and earned a doctorthe degree of divinity from Oxford. He is for his work in historical and systematic theology and academic noted. In his writings and speeches, promotes "scientific theology" and rejects antireligionism. McGrath was until recently Professor of Historical Theology at Oxford University, but now the chair of theology, religion and culture at King's College London from September 2008.
